The Club has been in existence in various forms since 1939 when it was originally incorporated as the Danehill and Chelwood Gate branch of the British Legion. The current Danehill and Chelwood Gate Social club was born out of the folding up of the British Legion branch in 1972.
These days, the club is a far cry from the stereotypical smoke-filled room packed with men drinking after work. We are the only pub left in the midst of the village, provide a free venue for parties and other events for villagers, and stage a number of up-and-coming bands several times a year. We have high quality sound and lighting facilities and can offer DJ and sound engineering services. Most importantly, we offer a wide range of drinks at a low price!
We have a number of varied events that take place throughout the year: Quizzes, race nights, pool and darts tournaments, live bands, discos and private parties (to which members are always welcome).
The Danehill Post Office is open in the club every Friday afternoon from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
As already mentioned the club is available for events – the venue itself is offered free of charge but if you want to make use of our technical crew / DJ there is a small charge. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Non-members are always welcome at events or for the occasional drink. Membership is very reasonable at only £20 per year.
